Supervisor of Special Services
Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or higher in Special Education or Educational Administration/Leadership.

Valid NJ Supervisor Certificate (required); Principal/School Administrator Certificate (preferred).

Minimum 3–5 years of successful experience in special education or as a CST member.

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and NJAC 6A:14 regulations.

Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and data analysis skills.

Experience in supervision and/or administration preferred.

Required criminal background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency.

Proficiency in multiple technology platforms.
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Schools.
Contract: 12-month position; salary follwing the established MCSSPSA $105,000.00 and full medical and prescription benefits
Position Summary
The Supervisor of Special Services provides instructional and administrative leadership for all district special education programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and promoting equitable access to quality education for students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Compliance

Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs (including ESY).

Ensure compliance with all IEP and 504 requirements and state/federal mandates.

Maintain required reports and data systems (NJ SMART, ASSA, SEMI, etc.).

Collaborate with Curriculum and Instruction to align programs with NJSLS.

Oversee student enrollment, tuition systems, and related financial reports.

Manage county/state grants and special projects.
Staff Supervision & Development

Supervise and evaluate special education staff, CST members, related service providers, and paraprofessionals.

Lead recruitment, training, and professional development initiatives.

Provide mentorship and support to promote instructional excellence.

Oversee district and outsourced therapy services.
Administration & Communication
-
Develop and monitor the department budget and expenditures.

Utilize data systems to track compliance and student progress.

Act as liaison with parents, agencies, and SEPAG; handle concerns and facilitate collaboration.

Coordinate with building and district leadership to ensure effective program delivery.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
